msn Email doing rounds

Post by age »

from what I can gather it is a scam

Hey it is Andy and john the directors of MSN, sorry for the
interruption but msn is closing down. this is because too many inconsiderate
people are
taking up all the names (eg making up lots of different accounts for just
one person), we only have 578 names left. If you would like to close your
account, DO NOT SEND THIS MESSAGE ON. If you would like to keep your
account, then SEND THIS MESSAGE TO EVERYONE ON YOUR CONTACT LIST. This is no
joke, we will be shutting down the servers. Send it on, thanks. WHOEVER DOES
NOT SEND THIS MESSEAGE, YOUR ACCOUNT WILL BE CLOSED AND YOU WILL COST £10.00
A MONTH TO USE. SEND THIS TO EVERYONE ON YOUR CONTACT LIST. NOW YOU KNOW
WHAT TO DO. PLEASE DO NOT FORWARD THIS or REPLAY.COPY THE WHOLE EMAIL. GO
BACK TO YOUR INBOX AND CLICK ON NEW. AND PASTE THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION.

I keep getting loads of these emails saying about msn not being free from November but if you read the bbc article it says...

"Microsoft stresses that the site's core facilities including Hotmail will remain free"

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/1189119.stm

dunno what the panic is about

I think they are trying to crash the msnm email or something.

As far as I can gather there is no risk to users.

I've had about 3 of those emails but all diffrent. Some people find it funny and Its only true if it comes for hotmail support or somthing rather then xxxxxxx@hotmail.com. I hate chain mails.

another sad chain email - msn is not charging or shutting down - its load of crap... :x

people need to find better things to do with their time - be careful about sending it around if you allow msn access your contact list through outlook or lotus as it may have a macro or virus embedded in it...

simplest advice is that if you dont know the sender - DELETE it before you even open it, irrelevent of how good your virus software is.

Totally agree with Ross. If you have maros enabled on your browser then youve probably just given away your email addresses.
