Do we put something at the start of each rideout thread?
Abso-bloody-lutely not, not in print.
We don't know whose checking out these public forums. If it's officially a requirement for charity fundraising rides to be separately insured then you can be sure some armchair anti-biker somewhere will one day see it and make expensive trouble. It's the main reason I don't publish my full rideout routes in the forum.
I'm in full agreement with raising cash for the Air Ambulance services, any of them; several of my ex racing colleagues have good reason to thank them. So as an unofficial rule, why not make it a given that on most rideouts we know that a er' - 'donation to a certain airborne medical aid organisation' is acceptable?
On a related note, I fully agree with Merv's statement above. It's precisely for the reason he gives, that the RNLI are independent.

Or what we can do......
Who ever organises a rideout can do a whip round on the day and then send the monies to Si....
At the end of the year we could give a SWB donation to the Air Ambulance and promote SWB in the process.

I was reading their yearly financial statement yesterday, just to see how much it costs to run it.
Seems they have been given money from the government to make up for funding shortages due to covid.
Looks like last year they received £527,000 in covid support, but what puzzles me is why the government weren't highlighting stuff like this as something good they've done.
Governments move in mysterious ways, the air ambulances save them a lot of money I reckon £527,000 is a piss in the ocean, the air ambulances dont want government interference , if they took over it would be money saving cuts , sell the helicopters off to their fat cat mates and lease them back and within a few years they would be a memory like railway lines in most country areas
Below is a link to an article basiclly The Government have said no to central funding of air ambulances as independent charities provide a better service.

I work along side 2 AA charities in Bristol and Wiltshire and know first hand how any donation however small is always greatly appreciated. How else can they keep bloodbikers supplied with chocolate hobnobs.

I've set up a Justgiving page and am happy to be the "hub" for any SWB donations to the Devon Air Ambulance. My plan is on each ride out I do I'll have a whip round for "my coffee" and miraculously when I get home donate that exact amount via the Justgiving page. Of course any SWB event I don't attend could also end up with a donation via this Justgiving page.

Liking this idea and to use the Just Giving page to help raise funds. Will keep a record of the link for the future. Great suggestion Brian and thanks for raising and organising.
