Triumph part needed

Post by svr-ash »

A mate of mines got a trophy 900 and is having problems finding a part at a reasonable price so i said i'd have a look for him but i'm having problems getting the part number :(

The part is called the "Starter idler gear" according to the haynes manual, it sits between the starter motor and flywheel, tranfuring power from the starter

Ron Ayers don't do triumph parts so i couldn't look in there fiche which is my normal trick

If any one has eaither a Triumph motor they're stripping for bits, a friend doing the same or can get me really cheap Triumph parts (he got told over £100 for this small cog  ) can they give me a shout with prices etc 'cause all he needs is to put this cog in, oil up and his rebuilds finished

Cheers

Most of the starter assembly is in a kit form. If you can verify the exact gear then I can see if its available. The reason most of it is in a kit as its an updated part to stop the sprag clutch wear when people have a low battery.
He can call Paul at Total Triumph 01823 358899 and he will get a genuine part, and the correct price. If its the one I think its not £100.

hi its the starter sprag clutch they can get damaged if you start the bike with a part charged battery which alows the engine to kick back upon starting also early triumphs had to have the cdi replaced to allow the engine to spin before fireing to stop this damage try sandy on 0144 3691666 for triumph spares in wales for used and new parts regards geoff
