150mph my arse!

Post by Mike Hayward »

Take it most of you have seen or heard of this:

http://www.thisisplymouth.co.uk/news/Mo ... ticle.html

Am I the only who thinks 150 is bullshxt?

I'm sure i'm not the only one that has seen 150 plus on 2 or 4 wheels (private racetrack of course) even i know those little things in the distance suddenly ain't in the distance anymore! I dont believe for one minute he was doing 150 there, 90 is all too feesable.

And yeah ok he only had a 25kw license so deserves to be fined for that.

Think i'd rather be done for the license error than over twice the legal limit! if he gets done for 150mph prob not going to drive for a very long time!

I hope he doesn't as no way in my eyes thats 150, if he doesn't get done that'll throw the accuracy of there guns into jeopardy.

He's not leaning enough on the bend for 150 and then only brakes for 1 second to get down to the speed of the traffic :!:

it's typical anti bike news.

As for the copper only managing 110 on his beemer - no shock there :x

you would of thought a police sniper would have been used to looking at things through a view finder, if he was more intent on seeing the accident happen than collecting evidence surely that throws the quality of the evidence out the window?
No way 150. Jury should be shown some proper footage of 150 and braking from 150.

As for the provisional licence thing - throw the book at him, that makes me mad.

That's crazy! He was only on the brakes for about a second, no way on earth he could have been doing 150. In the article a 'police motorcycle specialist' claims the braking distance from that speed would need to be 352 metres, which you would have to assume would need to be constant hard braking......... Didn't look like that to me.....

Just another completely ove the top trumped up charge. Bullsh!t. I only hope it gets laughed out of court, but sadly I suspect it won't, and once again the anti bike press will be bleating on about how dangerous we all are.

As for the licence issue, that means he would have been uninsured as well, so I hope they f*ck him for that. Far more serious than speeding in my eyes.

My restricted SV managed to get to nearly 100mph and I agree it doesn't look like 150mph from the footage.

He may actually be riding a restricted bike and going flat out at 90mph.
Blue Sv650s Curvey - Now unrestricted but starting to find the suspension a problem.
Next bike: CBR600RR eventually.

nothing like 150mph, unless the rest of the traffic was moving at 100mph!

van pulls out, he brakes, but aint no way that he would have scrubbed down speed from 150 to 60-70 that the van was maybe doing in that distance and time

these cameras are crap on bikes, far to many angles and moving parts, I have seen them record stupid speeds on inannimate objects, and also saw a test where that get 5 different readings from 5 different passes, all wildly different

flapping jackets, luggage, loads of things altered it

same sort of scenario as the barnstaple guy that got jailed for 122 mph on the A361 outside barnstaple

the camera displayed a fault code right before the speed was displayed, 3 identical cameras around the UK in that one month gave the same speed reading of 122.2mph in 3 different cases, what the hell are the odds of that?

with regards to the restricted licence, yeah ok, fair do's thats a bit naughty, but if it was in fact 90mph or thereabouts as I beleive it was, then thats possible on a restricted bike, I guess that they will have to look and see if the restrictor kit is actually fitted.

but in genral yes its another load of old tosh from ajourno that wouldnt know what way to sit facing on a bike.
