Advise needed
Hi all , couple of quick questions. Got a paddock stand with the hook adapters for bobbins but now need the swing arm cups instead.the fit to the stand is round bars with one flat side that the locking screw secures, where can I get some? Also what are the LC like when it comes to small number plates? I know they are supposed to be 9 x 7 but have seen loads of the very small ones on bikes ie 6 x 4, do they tend to turn a bind eye to it and if they decide to do you is it a kicked arse and get it changed, a fine or points.? Lastly need some new boots. Currently got the short ankle style but wanted something a bit longer, not full length but midi. Problem is I am struggling to find some that will fasten at the top around my trunks, anyone know of any that are a bit generous on size? Don't want to spend a fortune on them!
Any ideas welcome , cheers all.

Re: Advise needed
Hooks are better as doesn't touch the paint work on the swinging arm. Bobbins are what you need.
Get an 8 x 6, smaller than usual but still OK to be overlooked. Old bill like silly small as healthy fine and I think points.

Read this , no where does it say the size a number plate has to be , they only specify the size and spacing of letters and that you need at least 11mm of border around the letters , I have pruned the one on my TDR 250 down to 11mm al round and it doe not look to bad ,

Yep. No minimum size on no. plates. The less digits you have .the smaller you can make it. £60 FPN or upto £1000 if you want to fight it in court! (for non legal plates)

Re: Advise needed
Boots are tricky - the best thing is to go somewhere with loads of stock & keep trying ...... It isn't likely to be cheap though!
I spent some time in Bridge, CMS, and J&S, a few years ago and the only pair that I could do up properly was a pair of Daytona's. These have a set of "bellows" in the leather at the top, covered with a piece of Velcro backed leather, which allows a degree of adjustment

Of all the things I have ever lost, I miss my mind the most .....

Think you may struggle to find something cheap in the boot department. I have Sidi Vertigo's. They actually saved my foot last year
so after destroying my right boot I immediately bought another pair. I know that biking can be expensive but I don't like to skimp on protective gear.

I think this is what you want.DevonBlue wrote: Got a paddock stand with the hook adapters for bobbins
The bobbins for your new bike are 'offset' ones. Try R&G:

As Billinom8s said they will be better than the swingarm cup option.
Re: Advise needed
BTW how's the new bike? Happy?
Re: Advise needed
Daytona's certainly aren't cheap.
Sam's got Daytonas though as she has fat calfs. One of the few boots that does fit her though.
Fowlers have got another big weekender 26/27th Oct.

Re: Advise needed
Thanks tom, how do you always find these things?? Bike is a superb ride, still not 100% happy with the position but just a matter of getting used to it! to be fair it feels a bit better every time I get on it. It's lovely and smooth though compared to the er6 and it's a great looking thing. Will try to get some pics up if I can actually work out how to do it . Away from next Saturday for a week but when I get back might have a ride over to west bay and pay you a visit if the weather is kindAtomic wrote:BTW how's the new bike? Happy?

I'm away on deployments and haven't been on for a while but whats the new bike? You had the ER6 still when we met up in paignton a while back. glad you are getting used to it.
As for number plates i always ride with a smaller one, i have a few different sizes. generally i use one of my 2 8x6's mentioned but i do have a letter box style 9x3 one aswell and as of yet i have not been stopped.
I'm pretty sure it was only a £30 fine before but has since changed to a fine (not 100% sure how much) and 3 points but dont quote me on it, but as i said... i have never had any trouble.
