Not exactly scheduled..... It was booked in for a check of the rear brake that's been getting overheated which should have been a short visit this Saturday. However, in the middle of Spain last week it pissed fluid out 2 or 3 times overnight. Expansion tank remained full and the rad's been leaking but not drawing fluid in from the tank. I had to strip the plastics off each day and top up the rad direct. I've a feeling S and P are going to have it for a while.....

Sounds impressively fussy. Hope they can fix it easy enough. Sounds like a blockage with the radiator unable to breath properly through the expansion tank....
Any clues of the rear brake over heating?

Keep us updated. Curious about the coolant issue as dealing with similar on the flying korma.

I'm convinced the rear disc is out of round, causing it to overheat the pistons/caliper/fluid when it's used. This has been going on since new but S and P think it's normal for the disc to go blue and the pads to wear out quickly.... when the only time it's used is when I have a pillion or to keep the bike steady on slow tight turns.
They've had problems with faulty thermostats and also well documented problems with loose hose clips. I'm not impressed, that's for sure

Sounds like you need to try a workshop that knows what they're doing...…...

They were relating what the company line is with regards to warranty work. Straight forward things like leaking exhausts and water leaks they'll address no problem. When there "could" be an element of user error they are more difficult to persuade.
Neighbour had a similar issue with his new Street Triple wearing the rear disc and pads in under 4k miles. Bridge said Triumph refused to cover it under warranty as they inferred he was resting his foot on the lever during riding.
I guess KTM think the same thing. But I KNOW the disc is out of round as when I spun the wheel with pads removed the disc is slightly larger at one point as it touches the spring plate in one area only. If it was perfectly round it wouldn't happen. Whether this alone is enough to cause the overheating I don't know. Could be the pistons are dragging as well. Disc doesn't look warped but when you push it after it's been ridden there is a low pitched squeaking noise from the disc at one point each revolution.

Any decent mechanic could sort out that disc issue in minutes with a simple dial gauge, out of true or not..

Cheers Chris. It's the annoying little problems like this that's pissing me off, and the time the bike's off the road because they won't let me have a loan bike. At least Bridge gave me one when my Tiger 800 had a gearbox problem under warranty.

I’m really surprised they didn’t give you a loan bike at least, that’s crappy. I’m guessing, but could be way off, that is an issue with KTM and not the dealer, dunno. It’s not a good start to the new relationship though!! SP have only recently started with KTM as well I think...Wonder if it’s worth calling KTM direct and having a firm conversation?

S and P say it's a condition of their insurance that the bikes have to stay in their premises overnight. Not really a KTM problem, more an insurance thing. They'll let me have one for a few hours if it's in for a service but not overnight, and I'm not convinced they'll fix it on Saturday which is the first day they can look at it.

Could the issue be as simple as no free play at the lever or too much fluid in the system? both are reported issues I've read about causing similar problems on an RSV forum. You may have considered these already of course

Yep, checked both these things and they're bang on. I run with quite a bit of free play as I don't have much feeling in my feet so I'm used to the lever having to move a fair way so I know when it's operating.
