Re: Dropped the sv again!!!!!
unlucky, good thing your alright, it's the little spills that shake you up beacuse you always think it could of been worse. Hope you get the bike fixed soon
i dont have a drinking problem.......if anything, i'm too good at it
Re: Dropped the sv again!!!!!
Yeah had one on the rideoutlost_identity";p="32072 wrote:u had a spill recently cv didnt you??? what kinda damage was that and did u have ur crash bungs fitted (still say they r essential kit)??
But shes sorted now, good chance to get mini indicators too, total cost to me.......
25 quid indicators
40 quid rear brake lever
23 quid front brake lever
50? quid for crash bung (the best mod ever, saved the bike)
I've nto got as new bung yet as i am trying to find just a 'head' but basically only cost me 100 to repair, plus an insurance hike next year no doubt.

Ok well some guy off the sv site is gonna sell em the entire left hand peg assembly including gear lever for 50 quid (which means i can replace my scuffed peg) and the sidestand for a tenner, gt motorcycles wanted 41 pounds gear lever only and 50 quid for the sidestand. Also i can replace the scraped bung for 27 quid including postage from R&G. Art attack want 60 to 90 quid to spray the belly pan colour matched but wont know exactly how much moneyt ill they see it

dont worry mate, its only an SV650lost_identity";p="32065 wrote:30 mph lowside on diesel at theatre royal roundabout. Bugger. Damage = 1 completely trashed crash bung (thank u mr R&G loves ya), 1 slightly displaced mirror (easily retightend), 1 bent gear lever, 1 bent sidestand, and one scraped belly pan (getting it sprayed to match bike soon ne way. Nice bunch of chavs stopped to see if i was ok. Nice guys. i just picked it up put it on the stand and phoned the nice people at bennetts to come clean the spill. Hopped bak on and rode off feeling more than a little silly. Chavs told me i was crazy to get bak on the bike. Gonna order new gear lever and sidestand tomoz but bike running fine and is perfectly rideable for the timebeing. Got a haynes manual so soon it'll be nice again. Oh yeah and a new R&G required can u buy just the rubber part of the bung???
seriously tho........gutted fella.
diesel is a biatch.......because you always hit the ground about 5 times as hard as a normal lowside
i did the same at about 5 mph.hurt more than my 50mph crash on my mito lol.

Take a picture...and send it with a letter to the council...
I'm sure (but don't quote me) bikers who drop bikes on the road due to fuel on the road can get some money out of them to go towards the costs of the damage to your bike!
Might be worth getting in touch with this lot...

Crash bungs really do save your ass, when I dropped my bike I was surprised how little damage there was, literally just a scratch on the bung. Sorry to hear about your spill though, hope the SV's alright ... lovely bike

Really sorry to hear about your off. and Im glad your OK. Its worth pointing out that although crash bungs save your bike in spills like this, its not worth buying those cheap small jobbies from Motrax or whoever. When Miler dropped his Ninja, the bungs bent in on his fairing and caused more damage. Definatley invest in some decent ones like R&G or DHM.
I would do as furry suggests and contact the council highways department, you have nothing to lose. What about your clothing, is that damaged too?

Re: Dropped the sv again!!!!!
Special thankyou to miler for coming and giving me his opinions on the bike. Under his advice changed the oil (runs really well now), and have sanded down the scuff on the belly pan to be touched up with black gloss soon, and removed the crash bungs penidng recieving a new left hand side one. Just negotiating prices for near left rear set and sidestand and then ill be sorted. After miler left i dropped the bike again
tried to pull away with disc lock on oops luckily my leg acted as crash bung and no extra damge ideal

or you could put an inflatable ring around the bike so it will bounce back up next time with no damage
