Removing carb restrictions.

Hiya. When spring comes along I think i'll take out my restrictions. So ive taken off the tank and had a look around, think I can manage it.

Do I just take out the washers and put it all back together, or is there more to it? Also if anyones done this before and tips would be appreciated. Cheers.

miler might have some advice for you.... he took out mine for me....

is your restriction due to end in the spring?

There metal plates usually. But yeah take em out, Job done.
Jetting might need messing with, but I doubt it.

ermmmm not quite, still a while to go. Im still debating whether to take them out, do you think its worth the risk for the extra 24ish bhp?

Well I dont think you should take them out till your restriction is up, and the worse thing you can do is publically write about it on the interent.

And A_T does your bikes jetting feel different?

not really.... I'm glad i kept mine in..... got used to the bike and had more riding experience on the bike, but then I never had any problems pushing the max out of 33bhp

Won't lie though, going from 33bhp > 95bhp was a pleasure, but i'm still glad I waited...

It's probably just 4 washers under the carbs, some bikes have throttle stops or forms of restriction actually in the carbs.

My NC30 and Kellys NC23 are both just plain washers.

Shoudnt take anytime at all.

No, there is a bit more to it. If you get caught you can expect several points, and years of paying extra insurance.

AT and 2blue passed their tests at the same time, and started riding similar bikes. AT with restrictors in had no trouble keeping up with 2blue. On a recent ride out one of the regulars was riding a 125, and he lead most of the way.

You will realise there is no way its worth it, IMHO.

i didnt bother keeping my restrictions in, all it was on my sv650 was 2 metal washers sitting on the carbs,took them off job done.

yes officer my sv650 and tl000 was restricted hahaha

Its safer to leave them in, and you'll learn more about riding well with them in. In My Humble Opinion.
